Angul,FMNews - At least nine coaches of a wheat-laden goods train running on the Angul-Talcher Road route of East Coast Railways (ECoR) derailed at around 2.30 a.m., causing no injury or casuality.The loco pilot and other staff are reportedly safe.
According to reports, there was heavy rain yesterday triggered by deep depression in Bay of Bengal. The goods train carrying wheat was coming from Sambalpur area toKhurda.The incident took place just 50 meters before Talcher road station after the engine slided on a bridge and derailed. About nine bogies have derailed,officials said.
Due to derailment of the train,train services between Talcher and Sambalpur have disrupted.Several express trains running on this route either have been cancelled or diverted, railway sources said.
According to reports those trains cancelled along the route are 08105 Rourkela-Puri Special from Rourkela, 08106 Puri-Rourkela Special from Puri, 02862 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Intercity Special from Bhubaneswar, 02866 Puri-LTT Special from Puri, 08493 Bhubaneswar-Balangir Intercity Special from Bhubaneswar 08494 Balangir-Bhubaneswar Intercity Special from Balangir, 08451 Hatia-Puri Special from Hatia, 08426 Durg-Puri Special from Durg, 08452 Puri-Hatia Special from Puri and Puri-Durg Special from Puri.
Senior railway authorities have rushed to the spot and began operations to resume normal service on the route by clearing the derailed bogies from the track.
