MOSCOW: Russia has registered 22,277 new cases of Covid-19 and a new all-time high of 815 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.
According to Interfax news agency over the past day, 22,277 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,850 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (8.3%)," the headquarters said.
Russia hit a new all-time high of 815 deaths in the past 24 hours. There were 808 confirmed deaths on Thursday, and the previous all-time high of 799 deaths was reported on July 16 and August 11. Most deaths were registered in Moscow (59), St. Petersburg (42), and the Krasnodar Territory (33).
As many as 19,368 patients recovered from Covid-19 over the past day.
According to the headquarters, Moscow reported 2,529 new cases of Covid-19 and 3,043 recoveries on Friday. Following Moscow are St. Petersburg (1,810 new infections) and the Moscow region (1,223).
Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 6,557,068 cases of Covid-19, including 168,864 deaths and 5,848,340 recoveries.
The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Friday that Russia has performed more than 171.1 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 511,000 over the past day. As many as 1,242,577 people remain under medical observation.
